This We Believe…
- We believe that doing justice and loving mercy are intimately tied to walking humbly with God.
- We are committed to nurturing spiritual formation to support prophetic and redemptive work in the world.
- We believe that serious thinking about Jesus is done on the road, in the midst of attempts at faithful living.
- We are confessionally Christian, while also being committed to interfaith dialogue. W e are serious about the Bible as the central point of conversion and conversation for us, but we know that the voice of God is found in a host of other sources.
- We are an ecumenical body, drawing members from a variety of confessional traditions, yet choosing to be affiliated with, and accountable to, the historic visions and missions of the Alliance of Baptists and the United Church of Christ.
- We believe in cultivating a variety of spiritual disciplines, the centerpiece of which is corporate worship, as a means of nurturing spiritual maturity that leads to the healing of “the earth and all that dwell therein.”
- We are committed to worship as genuine celebration, employing a variety of the arts, including music, drama, and poetry. We aim for worship that is challenging to the mind, nurturing of the spirit, and inviting to both children and adults from various ethnic and class backgrounds.
- Our community involves the leadership of many in the circle rather than a professional class of clergy. Our co-pastors are not “chief executive officers” of the church administering services, but rather midwives assisting members of the congregation to discover and offer their own gifts, deepen their spiritual lives, and strengthen their compassionate engagements in the world.
